I have to say I’m quite particular with vets (and visit them plenty with my range of different animals), but was really happy. I’ve been looking for ages for a new vet who are reasonably priced and skilled with chickens... Allan is just what I’ve been looking for. Not all vets are good with chooks, they definitely require a different knowledge base than a lot of vets have. And while there are a few in Brisbane who are decent with chickens, I find the cost can add up into the hundreds of dollars almost instantly, with some charging $100 just for the consult fee because it’s an “avian consult”, even tho they are just regular vets (I understand specialist vets charging more as they have more education and reduce their client base not seeing dogs/cats).
Anyway, Allan has a range of poultry and he was great with her. He allows free rechecks which is amazing for peace of mind. And he seemed quite concerned about her feelings - he didn’t want to cause her any undue stress.
I see a lot of reviews on here calling him rude - I find that surprising. He’s a quiet guy, but polite, and he seems genuinely concerned for the animals. And the vet nurses are super lovely .
